Smart Door ("we", "us", "our") operates the mysmartdoor.in website and the Smart Door visitor management platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account details: name, phone number, email address, residential address
Payment details: processed by Razorpay; we do not store full card numbers
PIN: a hashed PIN used to secure your owner dashboard (we never store it in plain text)
Family/household member details: names and phone numbers you add for call routing

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Visitor logs: timestamp, photo (if camera-enabled plate), and voice note (if left) when a visitor scans your Smart Door QR code or nameplate
Device & usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, app interactions
Call metadata: call duration and routing outcome (via Exotel/Twilio) — we do not record call audio unless explicitly stated at the time of the call

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to: - Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (visitor logging, call masking, call routing) - Process orders, subscriptions, and renewals - Send transactional communications (order confirmations, renewal reminders, OTPs) - Respond to support requests - Improve and secure the Service (fraud prevention, abuse detection) - Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How We Share Information

We share data only with: - Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database & storage), Razorpay (payments), Exotel/Twilio (call masking & routing), Resend (transactional email), Groq (AI-based visitor message summarization) - Law enforcement or regulators, where required by Indian law - Successors, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you

4. Data Retention

Visitor logs (photos, voice notes) are retained for 90 days by default, after which they are automatically deleted, unless you export or extend retention from your dashboard
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal/tax obligations
Payment records are retained as required under Indian tax law (typically 8 years)

5. Data Security

We apply industry-standard safeguards, including: - Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables - Bcrypt hashing for PINs — never stored in plain text - HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit - Restricted, audited access to admin systems

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

6. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may: - Access, correct, or delete your personal data via your dashboard or by contacting support - Withdraw consent for non-essential communications (marketing) - Request a copy of your data - Close your account at any time

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

8. International Data Transfers

Our infrastructure (Supabase) may store data in data centers outside India. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
